Ralph Hunt, 81, husband of 60 years to Donna Varner Hunt, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Born in Majestic, KY, he was the son of the late Warren Hunt and Agnes Blankenship Hunt and brother to the late James Roger Hunt and Larry Joe Hunt. Ralph was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering degree and retired from Dupont after 25 years at 48 years old. After retirement, he and his wife moved from Florence, SC to a farm in Colbert, GA. There, he started learning about farming and raising animals. He brought the same fervor he had for engineering to farming, learning and obtaining his general contractor’s license, restoring antique vehicles, hunting, and growing in his faith and serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of Colbert Baptist Church and previously was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowman where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and as a staff member for the Senior Adult Ministry. Ralph truly loved his family and adored his grandchildren. Papaw served as a math tutor, mentor, mechanic, cook, landscaping supervisor, and motivational speaker to all of them. But no characteristic shined brighter than his love for the Lord and always pointing everyone he encountered back to Jesus. Ralph loved serving others and encouraging them along the road of life and in their faith. Survivors in addition to his wife Donna include two children: Sonya Gilstrap and Kelly (Kandi) Hunt; grandchildren: Kaylen Gilstrap, Lauren Gilstrap, Jared Gilstrap(Bri), Josh Hunt, Courtney Hunt and Chloe Hunt and one brother, Warren Glen Hunt. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens Danielsville Chapel. They will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
