Ralph "Ed" Edward McKnire, 82, of Casper passed away Dec. 16, 2025 due to many illnesses and age. He was born Mar. 8, 1943 in Lewistown MT to parents, Altha Mae (Carrell) and Ralph Edward McKnire.
Ed graduated from Thermopolis High School and was unable to serve in the military due to health reasons. He worked for Halliburton for many years until a job accident forced him into early retirement.
He was a jokester and so funny! He loved his family, especially his kids, “The Varmints”, which was his nickname for them. Ed was smart, a certified speed-reader, and loved hunting and fishing. Anyone who knew him would say the same. A favorite memory for us kids was being pulled on a tube behind the boat he was driving, and him trying to dump us off. It was a blast! We also loved all of the family road trips.
Ed enjoyed making jewelry from his rocks and precious stones, a hobby he enjoyed all of his life. He was so proud of becoming the Rock Club President in Casper, a role he took very seriously.
He is survived by his four kids, Jodi Gregg, Christine McKnire, Michele Hedquist, and Ralph Edward McKnire, Jr.; sister, Myrna Taylor; brother-in-law, Edward Taylor; nephew, Jimmy Taylor; grandkids, Amanda Carter, Matthew Carter, Jessica Madrid, and Xander, Mason and Nate Hedquist, Jr.; as well as many cousins and great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Altha Mae (Carrell) and Ralph Edward McKnire; sister, Marilynn Gifford; brother-in-law, Jay Gifford; and nephew, Jerry Taylor.
At his request, no services will be held. We will be spreading his ashes in June, dates to follow.
All of us varmints want him to know we will love and miss him our entire lifetimes!! Fly high dad! Love, the varmints!
