Ralph Nelson Obituary

RALPH L. NELSON Ralph L. Nelson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 19, 2025, in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born on March 15, 1943, in Ottawa, Kansas. Ralph lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and faith. His career spanned many years, beginning as a Lineman for the IBEW Local 304 before serving the City of Erie as Superintendent. He later worked as a Sales Representative for Harvey Electric, Director of Electrical Operations at Sprint North Supply, and as Materials Manager for TDB Communications. He further shared his expertise in warehouse management with both Black & Veatch and Cricket Wireless. In every role, Ralph earned the admiration and respect of those around him for his knowledge, organization, integrity, and strong work ethic. Outside of his professional life, Ralph's greatest joys came from the simple pleasures he loved mostgolfing, fishing, and snowmobiling. Whether on the course, by the water, or in the mountains, he cherished time spent outdoors and the friendships he shared along the way. Above all else, Ralph's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. His devotion shaped the way he lived, loved, and led his family.  We rejoice that he now experiences the fullness of the faith he lived by in the presence of his Savior.   Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Gail, and his cherished childrenDennis Nelson, Deanna Leecy, Robyn Stewart, and step-son Troy Hutton. He treasured being "Grandpa" to Jack Nelson, Anna Nelson, Matt Leecy, Lane Leecy, Seth Leecy, Jace Stewart, Carter Stewart, Kale Stewart, T.J. Hutton, and Anisten Hutton. His heart was also filled with joy at the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Elsie Leecy, Annie Leecy, Pete Leecy, Kinsleigh Leecy, Addie Leecy, Reagan Leecy, Eloise Leecy, and Elianna Hutton.   He is also lovingly remembered by his brother, Bernard Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Jack Nelson, and his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Dave Phillippi. Ralph leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family. Everyone who knew him could see the special place he held in his heart for the little ones.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. Services will be held Monday, September 29, at Westside Family Church, 8500 Woodsonia Dr, Lenexa, KS 66227, with visitation at 9:30 am, followed by funeral service at 11:00 am, and graveside service at 2:30 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, KS. I have good memories of Ralph. We went to high school together and graduated together. Lost of laughs and fun memories. He was a great athletic in both football and basketball. We loved to dance on our lunch break in school and he was really good at rock and roll. i will miss him but still have good memories of the good old days. Carol Sleichter (DeMaranville)
