Ray, Ralph Kenneth "R.K.", 95, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013. He was born October 12, 1917 to Lyman and Helena (Tolkdorf) Ray in Newton, KS, one of five children. He attendend Bethel College in Newton, KS. Ralph married Caroline Stephens in Wichita on October 6, 1940. He served in the Army during WWII, earning the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal. Ralph was self-employed as a Master Plumber for 45 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water sports, camping, raising horses and his lifelong passion of raising and competing in field trials with his English Pointers. Ralph was inducted as a charter member of the Kansas Heritage Hall of Fame. He received recognition in the American Field magazine as the oldest amateur trainer to win an Open Shooting Dog Championship at age 91. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Linford Ray, Benjamin Ray, Lyman F. T. Ray, and Mildred Morgan. Ralph is survived by his wife of 72 years, Caroline "Connie" Ray; children, LaDeen (Ron Sr.) Betts, Lyman H. Ray, and LaDonna Radermacher; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Visitation: Tuesday, from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral: 2 pm, Wednesday, April 17, 2013; both at Lakeview Funeral Home.
