I´ll never forget walking into his class at North Rowan for the first time. Transferring from another school, I was a few days late. I looked around the class, not seeing a teacher, and walked up to the boy that I thought was just sitting in the teacher´s desk and asked him where Mr. Shatterly was. It was a very embarrassing way to start off at a new school, but Mr. Shatterly just smiled his kind smile and introduced himself. He was a wonderful teacher and I know he will be missed by many.

Sorry for your loss. I was fortunate to have known Coach and to have been on the receiving end of his knowledge and guidance, both in the classroom and "on the mat". Coach was a great person and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

It was a privilege to call him "coach". Tough, but fair, and that is all an "ole farm boy" could have ever asked for. Unfortunately, one of the last of a dying breed. I am sure he is teaching the "neck bridge" in Heaven as we speak. RIP my friend!
