Ralph Sewell Webb, Jr., 88, passed away suddenly at his home on 3712 French Lake Drive after years of declining health. He was born in Mebane, NC on February 9, 1922 to the late Ralph Sewell Webb, Sr. and Laura Todd Webb and spent his early childhood in Walhalla, SC. Ralph graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School, and after graduation served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy. Once his tour of duty was completed, he enrolled at N. C. State in the School of Design, but later changed his major to Horticulture. In 1947, Ralph started his own tree service, known as Webb Tree Service, which later grew to be one of the finer tree services. He was a member of the International Society of Arboriculture, a member of the American Legion Post #1 in Raleigh, VFW, 40&8, and was involved with The Boy Scouts of America as a child and also as an adult. Ralph was well known for his creativity, ingenuity, and generosity to others. As Ralph always said, he was a "jack of all trades, master of none, but we specialize in tree work."
