Mr. Ralph P. Worman, 89 of
Robinson, IL, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, entered into eternal rest on February 1,2026, at the Haven of Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, Illinois. Born on June 3,1936, in
Effingham, Illinois to Elizabeth (Niemerg) Worman and Edward J. Worman. Ralph was a man of faith, family, and community, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
Ralph's early years were spent in the nurturing embrace of
Effingham, IL., where he attended St. Anthony High School, graduating in 1954. His commitment to service was evident early on, as he honorably served in the United States Army at Fort Jackson in South Carolina from 1958 until 1960. Upon returning home, Ralph began a distinguished career that would span decades, first working locally at the Norge Plant and The Steakhouse, before embarking on his lifelong calling as a railroad postal clerk, traveling the routes from Effingham to Rock Island, Illinois. His dedication to public service culminated in his roles as Postmaster in Palestine, II and eventually Robinson, II, from where he retired in 1997.
A devout Catholic, Ralph lived his faith actively and joyously. He was a pillar of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham in his younger years and St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in
Robinson, Il for the past forty years. Known affectionately as "Rowdy Ralph" by his catechism students, he taught with a spirit of joy and a commitment to sharing the teachings of Christ. His involvement with the Knights of Columbus was a testament to his unwavering faith and his desire to serve both God and community.
Ralph's life was rich with love, as he shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Paula Jane (Bryan) Worman. Together, they raised a family that included their son, Bryan (Misti) Worman, Brownsburg, IN., and daughter Mrs. Ellen (Michael) Slaughter,
Robinson, Il. Ralph's legacy continues through his brother, Leroy (Olive) Worman, his cherished grandchildren Sydney (Jake) Mason,
Robinson, IL; Cade Slaughter,
Robinson, IL; Elizabeth Worman, Brownsburg, IN; Alyssa Moore, Brownsburg, IN; Ashli (Jacob) Bishop, Georgetown, KY; and his adored great-grandchildren Jack, Hank, Max, Charlotte, Noah and Nash. His life was also blessed with the joy of many nieces and nephews.
Ralph was predeceased by his siblings Albin Worman, Luella (Herman) Runde, Magdalen (Albert) Pruemer, Ambrose (Norma) Worman and Roger (Barbara) Worman.
Ralph's passion for life was matched only by his love for golf, shared laughter and camaraderie with friends on the greens, and in the 19th hole and the thrill of cheering for his favorite teams: the St. Louis Cardinals, the Illinois Fighting Illini basketball team, and the Chicago Bears. His enthusiasm was infectious, and his presence at any sporting event was a source of joy for all who accompanied him.
As we remember Ralph, we are reminded of the words of St. Francis of Assisi, "For it is in giving that we receive." Ralph's life was a testament to this truth, as he gave generously of his time, his talents, and his heart. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by the countless lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering faith.
We bid farewell to Mr. Ralph P. Worman, a man who walked this earth with grace, who loved deeply, and who served as a beacon of light to all. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.
