Ram Ramakrishnan, 97 years, passed away on June 22, 2024, in
Hillsborough, New Jersey.
Growing up in Trichur, Kerala (India) with seven siblings, Ram loved soccer, debates, theater, and badminton, and had a passion for literature and poetry. Ram studied Chemistry and Business Administration, laying the foundation for an illustrious career and an inspiring life. His journey was the epitome of a success story, as he worked from humble beginnings as a teacher in a village school, later securing senior leadership roles, and eventually becoming the President of a major company. He attributed all his achievements to hard work, tenacity, and the most supportive and wonderful wife, Savitri.
Ram and Savitri were married for 72 glorious years and raised three amazing daughters: Raji, Shanti, and Geeta who live with their families in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, respectively. The ultimate storyteller, Ram was a source of joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. The only thing greater than his 'larger than life' personality was his generous heart – always ready to befriend anyone, anywhere, at any time!
In his later years, he delighted in taking walks, watching tennis, reading (he was particularly fond of Dickens), and writing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Savitri, playing rummy and Parcheesi together, and watching movies each night. Ram showed by example what it means to live a full and beautiful life. He laughed boisterously and often, could recite his favorite poems by heart, and always inspired awe and admiration.
His generous spirit will live on through his numerous published books, which will continue to remind people to appreciate the good in the world. "My humble advice to the younger generation as well as to all others is to live in love," he wrote in his third book, and his life was a testament to this principle.
Ram performed the religious rites for the passage of his soul at Badrinath temple and did not desire any additional ceremony at the time of his passing. Details on a celebration of life will follow soon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either: https://www.heart.org/en/ https://crossroads4hope.org/
Ram is survived by his wife Savitri, three daughters: Raji (Ananth), Shanti (Chandru) and Geeta (Govi), his six grandchildren: Anjali (Atul), Arjun, Nikhil, Nina, Natasha, and Navin and two great grandchildren: Krish and Niam.
Funeral services for Ram Ramakrishnan will take place Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Franklin Memorial Park. Franklin Memorial Park is located at 1800 Route 27 in
North Brunswick, NJ.
