RAMELL CHERRY JOHNSON
Reagan, TN: Ramell Barker Cherry Johnson, age 97, passed away November 13, 2025, at Lexington Manor-Lexington Post Acute.
She was born March 6, 1928, in Henderson County, near Sardis, and grew up in the Center Hill Community, the daughter of the late Eddie Franklin and Ida Mae Brown Barker. She attended school in Chester County. She was married to Curtis Cherry in 1947, and they made their home in the Roby and Center Point Communities. Mr. Cherry passed away in 1960. She later married Horral Johnson in 1972 and they made their home near Reagan. Mr. Johnson passed away in 1987.
She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Reagan and a member of the Sardis Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by two sons, Jerry Neal Cherry (Janice) of Enville and Benny Cherry (Shelia) of Reagan and a daughter, Janice Roach (Thomas) of Enville; five grandchildren, Jeremy Cherry (Wendy), Brent Cherry (Melissa), Jason Cherry (Brandy), Jonathan Cherry (Carrie) and Chad Roach (Holly); ten great grandchildren, Meghan McDowell (Reece), Sydney Cherry, Bristol Cherry, Cason Roach, Emery Roach, Annie Roach, Lila Cherry, Kye Cherry, Hanna Cherry and Kendall Cherry and one great-great grandchild, Rylee McDowell.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Sue Mount and Julie Mae Barker.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, Nov. 16th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Sam Williams and Jason Cherry officiating. Burial will follow at Cabo Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday and 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time on Sunday.
