Ramesh Kuba Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alameda Family Funeral & Cremation, Inc. - Saratoga on Feb. 3, 2026.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar Kuba, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and educator, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at the age of 87. He lived a life defined by love, laughter, generosity, and service to others.

Above all, Ramesh was a devoted family man. He shared 62 beautiful years of marriage with his soulmate and best friend, Kanta. Together they reated a home filled with warmth, humor, and hospitality, a place where everyone was welcomed with genuine kindness and a hot cup of chai always ready.

He is survived by his wife, Kanta; his children Sanjay (wife Tricia, and sons David and Anthony), Vaneeta (husband Devadas, and children Maya and Rishi), and Anita (husband Ramesh, and children Meera and Rohan), his brother Rishi (and family), and many other loving and adoring relatives and friends; two grand dogs, Rory and Mazie; and a great-grand dog, Wiskie.

Ramesh had a natural gift for making people feel at ease. Known for his infectious sense of humor, gentle teasing, and warm smile, he loved telling stories and making others laugh. A true foodie and gracious host, he expressed love through shared meals, thoughtful gestures, and an open heart. His generosity and kindness extended to everyone he met, offered freely and without expectation.

In 1963, Ramesh immigrated to the United States to study at Yale University and soon began a lifelong career in education. He spent 37 years at the University of Minnesota Dental School, serving as Professor and later Professor Emeritus. A cherished teacher and mentor, he won multiple Teacher of the Year awards and was named the School of Dentistry's Century Club Professor of the Year in 1988. Ramesh is also permanently recognized through the Dr. Ramesh Kuba Radiology Excellence Award.

As the first in his family to immigrate to the United States from India, Ramesh paved the way for generations to follow. Even in the face of a significant health challenge later in life, he met each day with courage, strength, grace, and positivity.

Ramesh will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his humor, warmth, generosity, kindness, wisdom, and the way he made everyone feel instantly welcome. His legacy lives on through his family, his students, and the many lives he touched.
