Randal H. Penland, aged 82, of Canton, Ohio passed away peacefully at the Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center on the evening of Thursday, September 12, 2024, surrounded by his family. Randal was born in Young Harris, Georgia on June 07, 1942, to the late Robert and Euna (Nichols) Penland.
Randal was a resident of the Canton South community nearly his entire life. He graduated from Canton South High School and was a machinist by trade for Diebold. He had many interests and hobbies including deer hunting, working on anything mechanical, drag racing in his early years, and always rooting for anyone, on any track, behind the wheel of a Chevy to take the checkered flag. He was proud to have won numerous trophies alongside his brothers at the Magnolia Dragstrip in their passion project dragcar, a 1955 Chevy Wagon, nicknamed “Tweety”.
Randal is preceded in death by his parents; son Christopher Penland; brothers Fred, Rex, Roland “Slim”, and John “Rit” Penland; sister Susan Penland.
Those remaining to cherish memories of Randal are his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Braswell) Penland; daughters Carla Davis and Nicole (Dennis) Baker; grandson Cody S. Graening; granddaughters Saxyn and Nishay Ledger, Taylor Penland, and Meghan (Jonathan) Miller; great-grandson Milo Miller; sisters Marie Tabellion, Patricia Tyler, and Paula Penland; sister-in-law Carla Joann Spina; niece Bridgette (Todd) Goodnight; nephew Sean (Carrie) Spina, and a great many more loved ones up and down his family tree.
Friends may call on Friday, September 20th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with service to follow beginning at 1:00 pm. Officiation by the Reverend James (Carol) Simone of Shepler Country Chapel. Services will be conducted at the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
