Randall Wayne "Randy" Browning

1953 - 2025

Randall Wayne Browning, known to family and friends as Randy, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the age of 71.

Randy was born on September 18, 1953, in El Paso, Texas, to Bennie and Jean Browning. In 1972, he met the love of his life, Patti Rogers, at the wedding of mutual friends at the famous Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells, Texas. They were married only six months later, but it was a union that lasted two weeks shy of 53 years. Randy and Patti began their life together in Austin Texas, where Randy supported them as a stone mason. After a year, they moved to Llano, and with the help of his father- in-law, George, Randy started his own masonry business, which he practiced over 50 years. He went on to become a swimming pool builder, a profession he dedicated himself to for more than 40 years. Working alongside his children in the family business, Randy's workmanship can be found in countless backyards across the Texas Hill country-a lasting testament to his talent and pride in his work.

Randy will be remembered not only for his craftsmanship, but also for his faith. As an unpaid minister of Jehovah's Witnesses, he was known to work his secular job in construction, at times laying stone all day, only to do his ministry on the weekends and evenings. Many times, he traveled to Mason or San Saba after work, conducting Bible studies in homes and at the nearby prison unit in San Saba. He continued to encourage others whenever he could, even during his sickness. Those who knew him could clearly see what a self-sacrificing and hardworking man he was. As much time and eVort that he poured into both his trade and his ministry, Randy gave just as much attention to his family. He took the lead not only in work and spiritual life, but also recreation. He loved the mountains and would train well in advance for ski trips. In the mid 1980's he discovered South Padre Island, a place he enjoyed and returned to yearly when possible. His final trip there, in September 2024, was spent with family and close friends as he and Patti joyfully celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Patti; children, Britany Owens and Justin Browning with his wife, Shawna, all of Llano; grandchildren, Megan Tatsch and her husband Carter of Austin, Cooper Owens and his fiancée, Madi of Prosper, and Memphis Schumann and his wife Kylie of Llano; Randy had one great-grandchild, Wilder "Wiley" Wayne Tatsch. Despite the pain he endured in his final months, Randy found immense joy and comfort in the presence of his great-grandson, whose smile and happy spirit were a bright and much needed light to him and the family during this difficult time. Randy is also survived by his siblings, Steve Browning and his wife, Rhonda of Fredericksburg, Danny Browning and his wife Shelley of Sedro-Wooley, Washington, and Shannon Cowan and her husband Wayne of Azle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Jean Browning.

A service will be held to remember Randy's life on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2:00PM, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Llano Texas. The service will also be available to attend via Zoom.
