Randall Patterson

Randall Patterson, age 73, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 13, 1951, in Copperhill, Tennessee, the son of Myrtle Jean Parris Blount. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his father, Joe Blount, and a sister, Linda Diane Blount.
Randall leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, and unwavering love. A man who truly embodied integrity and compassion, Randall was one of the good ones, he was respected by his peers, adored by his family, and loved by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Born in Tennessee, but raised in Georgia, Randall graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1969, where he was a proud student-athlete, playing both basketball and tennis. Not long after, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice, and together they built a life full of love and devotion that spanned nearly 57 beautiful years. He was a proud and devoted father to his girls and a cherished granddaddy who always had a warm hug and wise word ready. Randall's family was the center of his world, and his gentle spirit and quiet strength were their anchor.
His professional journey was marked by extraordinary dedication to law enforcement and justice. Randall began his career with the Henry County Police Department in 1976, where he served with distinction and rose to the rank of Chief of Police. In March 1983, he graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, an honor earned by few, where he was recognized for academic excellence and received the prestigious Expert Shooter Award.
In August 1985, Randall accepted a position with the Clayton County District Attorney's Office, where his integrity, calm leadership, and investigative skill quickly set him apart. Over the years, he dedicated his time and ultimately served as Chief Investigator, overseeing high-profile cases and mentoring a new generation of investigators. Though he later retired from Clayton County, retirement never quite fit a man of such purpose.
Still feeling the call to serve and drawn to his home community, Randall returned to the Henry County District Attorney's Office, where he continued his work with grace and dedication until his full retirement in 2015.
Beyond his career, Randall was known throughout the community for his enduring love of men's softball, a passion he carried for over 50 years. He played for numerous teams throughout the decades, most notably the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge Men's Church "A" team, where he was honored as USSSA Coach of the Year. His leadership on and off the field reflected the same heart and integrity he brought to every aspect of his life.
Randall was a man of deep and steady faith in the Lord. His trust in God shaped every part of his life, and he gave generously, both in service and in support, to missions and ministries that furthered the Kingdom. He led not with loud words but with quiet action, showing others what it meant to live a life of humility and compassion. With his calm presence and kind heart, Randall was the kind of man who made every room better just by walking in. His laughter was warm, his advice always thoughtful, and his life was an example to all.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Janice; his beloved daughters, Staci (Brian) Montgomery and Nicki Hendrix; grandchildren, Analea Mitchell, Hunter Hendrix, Trey Mitchell, and Noah Hendrix; siblings, Larry (Sue) Blount, Bobby (Judy) Blount, Rose (Charles) Shelton, and Faye (Chris) Grover; and a host of extended family, friends, and former colleagues who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service to honor Randall's life will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Pastor Bob Crowe will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
