Ellabell- Randall Lamar Payne, age 55 passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Payne was born in Vidalia, GA on November 23, 1968 to Florence Underwood Lawson and the late James Payne. He grew up in Savannah, GA and attended Thompkins High School. Mr. Randall was the owner and operator of Payne Tile for over 27 years.
Randall enjoyed the simpler things in life, like being outside on hot day doing absolutely nothing. He loved fruit with a passion, car restoration shows, and driving around downtown just to be out and watch the people. Randall loved ice cream, chocolate of any kind, but especially Reese’s Cups, Little Debbie Cakes and cereal. He loved crab legs so much that he could shut down a buffet. To be as thin as he was, he certainly loved his sweets and lots of them. He once found and ice cream shop while on a job in Brunswick and had a banana split every day for two months. He claimed they had the best ice cream in the world. He found joy in almost anything, as long as it involved chocolate or his kids.
His children were the light of his life and his greatest honor was becoming a grandfather. Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon and Selena Payne and Kayle and Brittany Payne; his mother, Florence Lawson; step daughter, Morgan Turner; four grandchildren, including Kayson Law Payne who he shared a special bond with; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carrie Jean and Alan Miller and Cathy Holt; one brother and sister-in-law, Aaron and Kathy Payne and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind a group of childhood friends that meant a lot to him that include, Mack Roberts, Carl Lane and Tony Lynn
In addition to his father, Mr. Randall was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Laura Bellflower and Earl Underwood, one brother and sister-in-law, Derek and Ruth Payne and one uncle, Johnny Underwood.
