Randall Dean Pomeroy, age 76, passed away on September 5, 2025. Randy was born on February 6, 1949, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Willis Dean Pomeroy and Evelyn Graves Pomeroy. Randy leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and integrity.
Randy was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church, and for many years was a devoted member of Parkway Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, where he faithfully served as a Deacon. His life was marked by a servant's heart, most clearly seen in his passionate work with the Room in the Inn Ministry, reaching out to those experiencing homelessness in the Nashville area.
Born and raised in Tennessee, Randy graduated from Hendersonville High School before attending The University of Tennessee at Martin. Even in his younger years, his leadership and drive were evident—he was a proud member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and was honored with the "Future Businessman" Award.
Randy served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he held the rank of Sergeant and worked as an Intelligence Specialist Airman. For his exemplary service, he was awarded multiple Air Medals in recognition of his dedication and valor.
Following his military service, Randy built a successful career in accounting, culminating in his role as Vice President and Controller at Batten and Shaw, where he eventually retired. His professional achievements were only outshone by his deep love for his family and his personal passions.
Randy loved life’s simple joys—playing golf, fishing, cheering on the Tennessee Vols and spending time woodworking brought him peace and satisfaction. But his greatest joy came from being with his family. He was a constant presence in the lives of his daughter and grandchildren, never missing an event or milestone. He truly loved his family well and was their biggest supporter in all things.
Randy will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for how he lived: with humility, grace, kindness, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Randy is preceded in death by his brother, Danny Pomeroy.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Debra Pomeroy; his daughter, Angie Roberts (Brian); his grandchildren, Alissa Roberts, Avery Roberts, and Dawson Roberts; his siblings, Tom Pomeroy (Joyce) and Vicki Hodges (Mark); other beloved family members (including many nieces and nephews), as well as his “adopted” grandchild, Hope Capley.
Visitation for Randy will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main Street, Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075).
