Randell "Randy" Stewart, also affectionately known as Papa Stew, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on August 17th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was also affectionately known as Papa Stew, to many. Born to Carson Stewart and Katherine (Mitchell) Stewart on July 4th, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, Randy was a true family man, and cherished the many memories he made with them over the years.
Randy's early years were spent building bonds with his siblings, Gerry, Steve, and Pam. He attended Cody High School where he met the love of his life, Debbie Rothermel, they were married in 1970 and had 3 children, Randy, Jennifer, and Jeff. Randy was an auto worker and was employed with General Motors until he retired. He had a huge passion for music, he would spend many days listening to music and reminisce about the memories that came with each song, he was especially fond of the The Allman Brothers Band. Randy was also one of the biggest Red Wings fans you'll ever meet, he shared his love of hockey with his sons and many friends that would gather at his house to watch games together.
Sadly, Randy was predeceased in death by his mother and father, his brother Steven Stewart, and his dear wife Debbie. His memory will forever be held in the hearts of his children, Randy, Jennifer, and Jeff, his grandchildren, Angel, Brynn, Miranda, and Jaxson, his brother Gerald Stewart, his sister Pamela (Rick) Johnson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a service held to celebrate Randy's life on Sunday, August 25th, 2024 from 1 pm - 6 pm at Charles R. Step Funeral Home located at 18425 Beech Daly Rd, Redford Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family is graciously accepting donations to assist with funeral expenses, or requesting donations to The Stroke Foundation. Donations made to the family for funeral expenses can be made by clicking this link, and must include Randell Stewart as the family name. Thank you.
