Randolph Lee Carter

Deacon Randolph Lee Carter, 91, of Orange, Virginia, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Dogwood Village Nursing Home. Mr. Carter was a retired cook for Ms. Marion DuPont Scott at Montpelier and a driver for Crown Auto Sales. He was born on December 19, 1920, to the late May Carter Spotswood. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Williams Carter; two daughters, Shirley and Romaine; and a brother, James Spotswood. He is survived by one son, Minister Randolph Carter and Rosemary of Orange, Virginia; six daughters, Ruth McIntosh and George of Unionville, Virginia, Mary Lee Lea of New York, Theresa Tibbs of New York, Doris White and Alfonza of Richmond, Virginia, Gloria Johnson of Dale City, Virginia, and Yvonne White and Richard of Richmond, Virginia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Spotswood of Orange, Virginia; sister-in-law, Joan Spotswood of Jacksonville, Florida; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Dogwood Village for all of their help and compassionate care given Deacon Carter during his stay. May God Bless You All. Viewing will be held from 2 until 8 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Satchells Funeral Home and from 1:30 until 2 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012, prior to the service at the church, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Nasons, with the Reverend Willie D. Crenshaw Jr. Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Satchell's Funeral Service Inc. of Orange is in charge of arrangements.
