Randolph Cherry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jackson Funeral Residence of Jersey City on Dec. 26, 2025.
Randolph Cherry, affectionately known to family and friends as "Randy or Weasel," on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 9:55 p.m. Randy was called home to everlasting life. Randolph was born on May 9, 1954, in New York, NY, the beloved son of the late Rudolph and Edna Ruth Cherry.

Randy spent his formative years in New York, where he attended local schools, before relocating to New Jersey, where he continued his education within the Jersey City Public School system. He was a man of independent spirit, known for forging his own path through entrepreneurial endeavors. Randy also found enjoyment in the strategic challenge of playing cards.

Randy was definitely a ladies man. He literally took the scripture, Genesis 1:28 - "Be fruitful and multiply the earth" to heart. He did just that.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Edna Ruth Cherry; his sons, Saleem McGeachy and Alfred Clarence Douglas; his sisters, Alice and Lashawn Cherry; his brothers, Bernard and Michael Cherry; and his beloved grandmother, Tessie Berry, who played a pivotal role in raising him.

Randolph's enduring legacy will be cherished by his devoted brother and caretaker, Apostle Anthony "Tony" Cherry. He is survived by his twenty-two children: Terrance, Todd, Randell, Eric, Raheem, Jamarr, Terry, Jermaine, Thomas, Tarsha, Dawnett, Taundra, Jessica, Carla, Keisha, and seventeen additional children. His expansive family also includes over one hundred grandchildren, a vast number of great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, Albert and Jeffrey Cherry; his sister, Debra Cherry; three aunts; three uncles; and a wide circle of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
