Randolph Sunkett Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 1, 2025.
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be afraid of them; for it is the Lord thy God who goes with you: He will not fail you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

Randolph Weldon Sunkett, a beloved brother and uncle, passed from this life on June 19, 2025. Randy, as family called him, was born on June 05, 1951, to the late Melvin T. Sunkett, Sr., and Gladys Marie Finney Coon. He was one of six children. He grew up and lived in Lewes, Delaware a majority of his life prior to moving to Milton, DE. He attended Cape Henlopen High School.

Randy was a faithful and longstanding member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lewes, DE, and later worshipped with Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and John Wesley United Methodist Church, within the Lewes Nassau Circuit. He loved praising the Lord and didn't mind sharing his belief. His favorite saying whenever he greeted someone was, "Praise the Lord!"

He worked for Beebe Hospital over 30 years, and also retired from Cape Henlopen High School where he worked as a custodian.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his three sisters, Allene Carter, Mary Marie Peterson, and Margaret Jones; two brothers, Melvin T. Sunkett, Jr., and Lester S. Sunkett.

Cherishing his fondest memories are his family, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Sunkett family is asking that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.

I was so sorry to hear about Randy's passing!! He was my custodian at Cape Henlopen HS, and he was always willing to share his faith. If you were his friend he would give you the shirt off his back! He will be missed.
