Randy Hugh Denson, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Abilene, TX.
Son of Vera Mae Wilson Denson and A.C. Denson, he was born July 3, 1945, in Knox City, TX. Randy was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1963 before attending college at North Texas State University in Denton, TX.
Following college Randy taught school in Muleshoe, TX for a few years. In 1969, he became the proprietor of the Cliff House Restaurant, a career that span for 40 plus years. As a diverse entrepreneur, Randy also owned several liquor stores and ran a cattle and ranching business.
Randy was a beloved father, uncle, cousin, brother, and many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, as a friend, a coworker and colleague. Randy had a very soft heart for his friends and was master at sarcastic and witty humor, but once you were marked as important to him, he'd be by your side if you needed him. Through the years, Randy enjoyed hunting, (especially the friends gathering at "grandma's house" during dove season) attending the annual Texas – OU football game and being "Pop" to the grandchildren. He loved his college alma mater and remained active as an ex-student all his life. Also, near and dear to Randy's heart was the West Texas Rehab Art Show held annually prior to the Texas Cowboy Reunion. Randy will be remembered for being the "Stamford Speed Demon", seldom did he drive his car more than 30 miles per hour around town.
He was preceded to heaven by his mother and dad, A.C. and Vera Mae, and brother Larry Denson.
He is survived by his daughter, Megan Dickson and husband Nathan of Stamford, TX; son, Aaron Pritchard and wife Sarah of Granbury, TX; 3 grandchildren: Scout Grace Dickson, Stone Hugh Dickson and Sully Mae Dickson; 1 aunt, JoAnn Denson of Abilene, TX and several cousins and friends.
There will be a private memorial/celebration of life at a later date.
