Randy W Markwell, Weathersfield, Vt

Randy Markwell, a friend of everyone, passed away October 14, 2025, at home surrounded by the love of his wife and dogs.

Randy was born July 25, 1956 to Gordon and Katherine (Haley) Markwell. He spent most of his childhood on his Grandparents dairy farm (Dermot and Donna Markwell), his most favorite place to be-with his animal friends. His favorites were Patsy the calf and Old Joe (the wild) Crow! He attended Weathersfield, VT grade schools and graduated 1974 from Springfield, VT High School. On August 8th, 1987, he married Martha Messler, with whom he'd shared 40 years with.

Following high school Randy began work at RN Johnson's John Deere dealership in Walpole, NH, where he worked for 25 years. While working for Johnson's, he was offered a job working at Corbin Park in Croydon, NH. He loved working with all the animals in the park, from the elk to the wild board and white-tailed deer. After being there for 15 years, he retired to spend the rest of his life with his wife and beloved dogs. Over the years he would have 16 dogs, all very special to him.

Randy in his younger years played Men's League softball in Springfield, VT, and also with a team from Walpole, NH. But his true passion would be snowmobiling, and he loved that he could ride from his backyard. Over the years he met many people on the trails who became very close to him. His other great passion was car racing, and attended most races over the years between Claremont and Monadnock Speedways. He met many people there, as well, forming lifelong friendships.

Randy is survived by his wife Martha; siblings Bruce (and Sally) Markwell of Aiken, SC, Greg (and Linda) Markwell of Pomfret, VT, Melody (and Joe) Bishop of Weathersfield, VT, along with many nieces, nephews and very special friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Gordon and Katherine; a very special aunt, Marion Barr; and a very special uncle, Winnie (Robert) Markwell.

Per Randy's wishes there will be no services. However, once we have snow there will be a "Randy Markwell Memorial Trail Ride" organized by his wife and friends.

We are so grateful for the wonderful care that he received from the Bayada Hospice Service and for the amazing lifelong relationships that have been made with his special healthcare givers over the years. Thank you all!

Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, VT is assisting with the arrangements.
