Randy Hyman McNeill, 64, of Lillington, NC, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Born in Lee County, Randy was the son of the late Dannie and Velma McNeill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dannie McNeill Jr.; sister, Loretta McNeill; and brother-in-law, George Blackmon.
Randy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy McNeill; daughter, Stephanie Werbelow; his son, John Werbelow and wife Alisa; and his beloved grandchildren, Alexis and Ava, who were truly the light of his life. He also leaves behind his sister, Lavada Blackmon; brother, Dwight McNeill and wife Cathy; sister-in-law Barbara McNeill; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who all held a special place in his heart.
Randy spent over 30 years working as a painter with Harnett County Schools Maintenance and continued painting after retirement. His dedication to his craft was only matched by the care and commitment he showed to the people around him. To know Randy was to experience true friendship and unconditional kindness. He never met a stranger-whether it was an old friend, a new acquaintance, or a neighbor down the road, Randy made everyone feel welcome and valued. From a surprise check-in phone call to helping mow a lawn without being asked, Randy's presence was felt and appreciated in countless quiet but deeply meaningful ways.
With a spirited love for adventure and simple pleasures, Randy enjoyed the open road on his motorcycle, often riding off on spontaneous trips to the mountains, the coast, or a favorite Harley shop somewhere in North Carolina. He also had a deep appreciation for Mopar vehicles and treasured the time spent at car shows and drag races with his brothers.
Above all, Randy loved his family. He often spoke fondly of the family he was raised in and the family he built. His children were his pride, and his grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life. Known affectionately as "Pa," he created memories with them that will be cherished forever-from motorcycle rides ending in dinner dates, to bug hunts, flower picking, fishing trips, and many outdoor adventures.
Randy's gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering faith in God defined the way he lived his life. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Randy's legacy of love, and compassion will remain an enduring light to those who were fortunate to know him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street, Lillington, NC. Everyone is encouraged to wear Randy's favorite color - orange.
