Randy Reed, 75, of Perry, Iowa, was reunited with the love of his life on December 3, 2024 (as his wife Marti passed away on May 22, 2024) at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Hospital surrounded by his family.

A visitation will be held on December 14, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Perry Chapel located at 1721 Park Street, Perry, IA 50220. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.caldwellparrish.com

Randy was born in Redfield, Iowa on September 11, 1949, the son of Vernon and Frances (Parker) Reed. Randy married Martha (Marti) on June 2, 1972, in Van Meter, Iowa and welcomed two children David and Tracy. Randy worked at the Brickyard (Redfield), Foundry (Perry), Core of Engineer (Arkansas), and Osmundson Mfg. Co. (Perry) for nearly 40 years until he retired in 2015.

Randy loved spending time with his family, watching TV, solving crossword puzzles, and enjoying paint-by-number games on his tablet. He cherished fishing trips with Mike, riding his scooter, geocaching adventures, texting his daughter, and satisfying his sweet tooth with chocolate, cookies, and pop. Anyone who met Randy would quickly learn how much he loved to joke, and his laugh will be deeply missed by many. Family was everything to Randy, including his fur babies and grand puppies.

Randy was a donor who graciously chose to donate his tissues to help others through the Iowa Donor Network. His selfless decision to contribute these vital resources demonstrated his deep compassion and commitment to improving the lives of those in need. Randy gave others the opportunity for healing and recovery, impacting the lives of individuals suffering from burns, injuries, and conditions requiring reconstructive surgeries. His generous act will continue to provide hope, comfort, and a chance for a better life for those who benefit from his donation. Randy’s legacy of kindness and altruism lives on through the lives he touched, reflecting his enduring spirit of giving.

Randy will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Tracy (Mike) Murphy of Perry; son David (Mary) Reed of Perry; his dog Mollie and grand puppies Maggie, Otto and Bella; siblings Caroline Morgan of Camdenton, MO, Ron (Chris) Reed of Jefferson City, MO, Connie (Larry) Mylan of Redfield, IA, and Cindy (Al) Scaglione of Urbandale, IA; many other extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Randy was preceded in death by his wife Martha (Marti) Reed; parents Vernon Reed and Frances (Lester) Carper; brother Bob Reed; his dog Patches and grand puppies Maddie and Sammie; other extended family and friends.
