Randy Gene Richards It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randy Gene Richards, who left us on September 28, 2025, at the age of 67.
Randy was born on August 21, 1958, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Thomas Melvin and Ellen Ruth (Eaves) Richards. Randy was a proud Army veteran, traveling the world and serving from 1977 to 1992 before reaching the rank of Sergeant. After he retired from military service, worked at Cargill in Eddyville, IA for several years. Later, he dedicated himself to his work as a handyman, sharing his skills and helping others in his community. Randy married Diana Buck in 1981 and they were later divorced. He spent the last six years surrounded by loving family and grandchildren. In his spare time, Randy enjoyed playing cribbage, Risk, and D&D.
Randy's family was everything to him. He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Shana) Richards; his sons, Benjamin (Chelsea) Richards and Jerame (James) Buck; and a loving extended family of siblings, including his brothers, Thomas Jo, Jerry, Rick, Timothy, Benjamin, Raymond, Joseph, and Michael; along with sisters, Thomasena, Ruthann Fisher, Barbara Jo Polson, and Jennie Shacklett.
Randy was preceded in death by siblings, infant brother Thomas, Dianna Knecht, Larry, Christopher, Deborah Causey, and Bobbie Jo. Randy will be missed dearly, and his spirit will always be remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
Randy will be laid to rest with full military honors at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Redwood Falls on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
