Raul R. Villegas, 90, spouse of Rebecca B. Villegas, passed away on July 19, 2024. He was born on March 11, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, the oldest son of the late Josefa Villegas and Pascual Villegas, Sr.
Prior to his retirement he worked as an iron worker for 34 years. His legacy lives on through his work here in San Antonio. Many of the buildings in the city were erected by him along with his father and brothers to include USAA, many HEB stores and various office buildings all over San Antonio & surrounding cities. Additionally, he was an active member of the Local Iron Workers Union #66 - San Antonio.
In his free time, he was an avid fisherman, loved visiting different casinos, and especially enjoyed doing odd jobs as he was keen to staying busy. He loved music: Rancheras, Boleros and oldies. He loved to dance & did until he couldn't anymore. He also liked sports, his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs.
Raul adored his wife Rebecca, and they were committed to each other for many decades. Rebecca was the love of his life. Aside from his daughter & late son, his other loves were his dogs, Chakira and Peanut. Family meant so much to him and he worked so hard to provide for his family.
In addition to his parents Josefa Villegas and Pascual Villegas, he is also preceded in death by a son, Raul Villegas Jr; sister, Rebecca; and brothers, Ruben, Rudy and Rosendo.
Surviving family members include his wife of 68 years Rebecca Bueno Villegas; a daughter Rosario (Rosie) Villegas; sisters, Raquel, Elva, Rosa and Lupe; brothers, Richard, Pascual Jr. and Roy; in addition to numerous extended family members in San Antonio, Houston and Monterrey, Mexico.
A special thank you to ENSO HOSPICE owner Arturo, Stephanie the hospice nurse, Delores his caregiver and uncle Fernando & aunt Luisa for all the extra care they provided.
The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. for visitation.
