Ravenel Jeffcoat Rubenstein, age 96, of
Columbia, SC passed away March 30, 2026. She was born in
Hartsville, SC September 29, 1929. Rav was the daughter of the late Abb Allen Jeffcoat and Ravenel Andrews Jeffcoat.
Ravenel graduated from Lower Richland High School and attended the University of SC. She was married to the late Morris Bernard Rubenstein, a Citadel graduate and Air Force Colonel. They traveled the world together. Ravenel was a member of the Red Cross volunteers for over 20 years. She also enjoyed teaching Jewish history & customs, past & present, to school age children in the local schools.
During their many military assignments she was involved in numerous activities. Ravenel always joined the base Welcoming Committees. She assisted families in quickly adjusting to their new communities and returning to their former routine.
Ravenel loved her family with all her heart and was proud of their many accomplishments. In addition to having and raising three exceptional & wonderful children she found time to entertain, play bridge and model.
She was predeceased by her grandson son (Robin Rubenstein), parents (Abb and Ravenel Jeffcoat), her brother (Abb Jeffcoat, Jr.) and her husband, Morris.
Ravenel is survived by her son and two daughters: Alan Rubenstein, Dr Loretta Rubenstein, and Deborah Garcia; two grandchildren: Dr. Kassi Avent, Dr. Brendan Avent and two great grandchildren: Bowie and Dean Rubenstein.
After retirement, Morris and Ravenel settled in Columbia. They became members of Temple Sinai in
Orangeburg, SC. They started a condominium rental company & became a strong team as they worked together on their new business. In addition to their new business, retirement still allowed much time to spend on traveling, their houseboat at Lake Murray and ample time was enjoyed on cruises with the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the
American Heart Association,
Parkinson's Foundation, or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Services will be held at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia.
