Ravi Jerath Obituary

Ravi Jerath, passed peacefully on February 1, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old. As a beloved husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, loyal friend, and respected member of the community, Ravi touched and inspired countless lives.

He was born in Pholriwala village, Jullundher district, Punjab, India, in 1940. He excelled academically, graduating fourth in merit in the state of Punjab, earning his Faculty of Arts degree from D.A.V. College, Jullundher, in 1958, securing a scholarship. He then attended Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh and obtained his BSME - Bachelor of Science & Mechanical Engineering in 1962.

In 1966, Ravi married his beloved wife, Veena Bhalla, and together they built a beautiful life, celebrating 59 years of marriage. In pursuit of a better life, Ravi immigrated to the United States in 1970, working tirelessly to establish a strong future for his family. He initially balanced two jobs—working 16-hour days as both a mechanical engineer and janitorial service in a steel plant—to ensure his success. His relentless work ethic and exceptional expertise were widely recognized, leading to a distinguished career as a mechanical and chemical engineer with firms, including Catalytic, Davey McKee, Stearns Roger, Kellogg, Bechtel, and Worley Parsons.

Ravi's dedication was unparalleled. He continued to outperform his younger peers, working until his retirement at the remarkable age of 81 in June 2022. His achievements included earning his Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, a Heat Transfer certification from SUNY Buffalo, and an advanced degree in Optimization in Engineering Design. His commitment to excellence was lauded by his CEO, who remarked that Ravi was an honor to his profession.

Ravi was a charismatic man of many passions. He had an avid love for cricket and tennis, both as an enthusiastic player and a cheering spectator. He was also a football fan. He found joy in spending time with family and friends, engaging in lively ping pong and card games. A lifelong learner, Ravi remained curious and informed, keeping up with the latest news and dedicating himself to mastering financial investments and real estate. He enjoyed comedy television shows and loved to laugh.

Ravi was a stoic cancer warrior, facing his health challenges with immense courage and resilience. Known for his selfless generosity, vast kindness, indomitable will, and inspiring character, he left a legacy of love, compassion, and perseverance. His vibrant personality, gentle nature, and warm heart were reflected in his infectious laughter and unwavering spirit. He truly embodied the essence of a Good Man Di LaalTain, making the world a better place.

Ravi is survived by his beloved wife, Veena; his adored children, Vandna and Rajeev; his cherished grandchildren, Jayin and Ishan; four siblings; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lal Gulzari and Satya, and his sister, Nirmal.

Ravi’s passion, wisdom, and positive spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
