Ray Louis Dyer was born June 5, 1938 in Jackson County, TN and he passed away at his residence in Bloomington Springs on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the age of 86.
Mr. Dyer was the son of Malcolm Patterson Dyer and Jennie V. Halfacre Dyer. He was a self employed mechanic having received many certifications from the Army in automotive repair and maintenance. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joanna Dyer who passed away July 9, 2013; brother, Kenneth Dyer, sister, Wanda Nell Chaffin and brother-in-law, Duane Hall.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie Ray Dyer and Terry Lee (Sherry) Dyer both of Bloomington Springs; daughters, Ruthie (Edward) Birdwell of Bloomington Springs and Susie (Gordon) Gunther of Morgan Hills; CA; sister, Dru Hall-Davis of Harrodsburg, KY; grandchildren, Tiffany (Josh) McCowan, Darren (Samantha) Birdwell, Daniel Ray Dyer, Courtney Dyer, Jenna (Michael) Dyer Huff, Gordon Keith Gunther and Amy Gunther; great grandchildren; Jackson McCowan, Jameson McCowan, Jase Birdwell and Jake Birdwell. Special friends are Sue Lambert, her grandchildren, Braden and Braxton Lambert and Reece Eagle. Other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, 5-8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11 am at Dyer Cemetery located on Dyer Cemetery Lane in Bloomington Springs. Don Miller will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dyer Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.
