Ray William "Bill" Haney, age 85, of Bremen, passed away on March 18, 2026, at a local healthcare facility. He was born in Cedartown, Georgia, on September 27, 1940, the son of the late James Monroe Haney and Ophelia Bowen Haney.

Bill was a proud graduate of Cedartown High School Class of 1959, where he was voted Most Athletic participating in football, basketball, and pole vaulting. An avid golfer, he truly loved time spent on the course where he made many lifelong friends. He worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections and retired as Superintendent of the West Georgia Boot Camp. He served his community for many years as a member of the Bremen City Council.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Jean Hopkins Haney; and a sister, Shirley Williamon.

Survivors include his children, David Haney (Julie), Christy Kisor (Gregg), and Lisa Covalsen; a sister, Betty Ray; grandchildren, Emily Hardin (Trey), Abby Wickman (Tyler), Bryce Haney, Sarah Haney, Lexi Covalsen, and Nicholas Covalsen; and great-grandchildren, Annie Hardin, Marshall Hardin, Wes Hardin, and Rivers Wickman.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 4:00 pm from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Tant officiating and Emily Hardin, Abby Wickman, Bryce Haney and Sarah Haney speaking.
