Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kalkaska Funeral & Cremation Services on Apr. 6, 2022.
Ray Earl Martindale, 53, of Rapid City, passed away at home on Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was born on September 23, 1968 to the late Fred and Geraldine (Leach) Martindale in Kalkaska, Michigan. He married the love of his life, Shawn (Baker) Martindale, on August 8, 2008. Ray was a man with a huge heart who never met a stranger and would be willing to give his last dollar to someone in need. He had a personality that was larger than life. He was quite an athlete excelling in football and wrestling in high school. Ray was a family man and was so very proud of his children. He enjoyed working on cars which he ran in the derby, snowcross, and bowling. He enjoyed coaching youth wrestling and playing in the local men's softball league. Ray was the best environmental liner installer there ever was. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shawn; children Kelsea Grace Martindale of Pinckney, Kaila Marae Martindale of Rapid City, and Tanner Ray Martindale of Rapid City; brother Leon Martindale of Kalkaska; in-laws Terry and Valerie Baker of Rapid City; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family; as well as so many friends who were close like family. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Blanche and Gerald Leach. The visitation will be on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 4 to 8 pm at Kalkaska Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:00 am at Kalkaska Church of Christ. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
