Ray Mitchell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by E. F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home - Cleveland on Mar. 9, 2026.
Ray Mitchell Sr., a devoted father, grandfather, and hardworking provider, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. Born on December 20, 1943, Ray lived a life defined by dedication to family, generosity toward others, and a strong work ethic.
Ray was born to Eddie Mitchell Sr. and Wynona Williams Mitchell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised with strong family values that shaped the loving and dependable man he became.
Ray attended Beehive Elementary School and later John Adams High School, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the determination that guided him throughout his life.
Ray dedicated 40 years of service as an Auto Technician with Ford Motor Company, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and commitment to his work. After retiring in 2004, he continued serving his community as a school bus driver, a job he enjoyed because it allowed him to remain active and connected with others.
He was also a member of St. Paul Church, where he enjoyed supporting children and giving back to the community. Ray had a generous heart and was known for giving gifts and helping those around him whenever he could.
Ray appreciated the simple joys of life. He loved starting his mornings with straight black coffee, and breakfast was always his favorite meal. A stop at McDonald's was part of his regular routine. Ray also loved cars and took pride in treating himself to a brand-new Lincoln every two years, something he truly enjoyed.
Family meant everything to Ray.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Tony;
Jancithia Graham;
Daneen Pulphus (husband Armond Pulphus) and their children Ariyon Williams, Cadyn Rini, Armonae Pulphus, and Armonee Pulphus;
David Graham Jr. (wife Shanah Graham) and their children Dayshana Graham, Daveon Graham, Destiny Graham, and Daya Graham;
Daqueeta Martin (husband Jermil Martin Sr.) and her children Jermil Martin Jr., Tamyra Garner, and Derrick Martin;
Dontez Graham and his children Kamiyah Higgins and Prince Graham;
Nicole Crandell (husband Justin Crandell) and their expected child Jordan;
Ebonyfire Mitchell, mother of Lauren East and Dakota Dorroh;
and Delvon Mitchell, father of Delvon Jr., Za'nyli, Dylan, and Nova, with a baby on the way.
He also leaves behind his stepchildren Ethel, Anne, and John.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved son Ray Mitchell Jr., his parents Eddie Mitchell Sr. and Wynona Williams Mitchell, and his siblings Barbara Anne Mickler and Eddie Mitchell.
He leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews including Kymberli Clay, kuaan Sparks, Khalee Clay, Kellie, Lisa, and Eddie Jr., along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever hold his memory close.
Ray will be remembered as a loving father, proud grandfather, dedicated worker, and generous man who always looked out for others. His kindness, warmth, and devotion to family created a legacy that will live on through the many lives he touched.
Though he is no longer with us, his love and spirit will continue through his children, grandchildren, and the generations
