Ray Noah Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery on Oct. 15, 2025.
Ray Noah, a native of Glencoe and a proud graduate of Glencoe High School, passed away October 10, 2025 at the age of 89. He was best known for his love of his family, friends, high school and college football, cars, music, and dancing. Ray was a sharp wit and a hard worker who worked third shift at Goodyear for 20 years and then took a chance and changed careers to successfully sell cars for another 25. He commonly attributed his success in all endeavors to his great looks - his family is still not sure whether or not that was a joke. Having led a full life of many chapters and having left an indelible impression on so many, Ray will live on in the hearts and minds of those lucky enough to know and love him.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert William Noah and Roger Mark Noah, wife Lisa; and his daughter, Rebecca Noah Lancaster; his two grandsons: Ian Matthew Lancaster wife Allison, and great-grandsons, John Cassel, Harry Dell, and Callan Gregory and Erik Michael Lancaster, wife Noelle, and great-granddaughters Scarlett Rosemary and Bridget Ivy with the third great-granddaughter on the way.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, William Dewitt (Bill) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Williams Noah, his three brothers, Morris Rex, William Harold and J.D. (Joyce Dewitt), his sister Dorothy Noah Barber Lyda, and his wife of 30 years Kathryne June Miles Noah.
Ray was a decorated athlete at Glencoe High School whose claim to fame was that, in 1953, he scored the first touchdown on the football field that still hosts the Yellow Jackets' games today. He went to work at Goodyear at 18, married his high school sweetheart at 19, lost his own Dad at 21, had 2 children by 22, and built his dream house by the age of 30. His passion for football led him to coach the Glencoe Peewee Football team for several years and he was immensely proud that many of the athletes who were on the 1973 State Championship team first learned the game from him. He was an active member of the Glencoe Sportsman Club and the Masonic Lodge #846 in Glencoe for more than 50 years.
The family will welcome all who would like to remember Ray to Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home on Thursday, October 16th at 9-11 am for visitation. A memorial service will follow at 11am with a graveside service to be held immediately afterwards at Crestwood Cemetery. Ray's great nephew, Seth Barber of Catalyst Church of Gadsden, will be officiating and the pallbearers will be Ray's nephews and grandnephews.
