Ray Palka Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 13, 2025.
Ray Palka, 75, of Andover, CT, passed away on February 27 surrounded by his loving family.

Ray was a longtime resident of Andover but grew up in "the Village" in East Hartford. He was a graduate of East Hartford High. A proud veteran, he served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. Ray worked at UPS and began his 35-year career as a package car driver where he met is wife, Heidi of 43 years along one of his routes. He eventually graduated to tractor-trailers, driving from Hartford into the heart of Manhattan each night. Ray was a proud union member, and believed in hard work and standing up for what was right.

Beyond his career, Ray was a man of many interests. He loved fishing and caring for his beloved dogs. He had a deep appreciation for history, old cars, and could often be found lost in a good book. He enjoyed tending to his many blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry bushes. Known for his warm heart and easygoing nature, Ray never met a stranger-every conversation was an opportunity for a new friendship. Above all else, he loved his family. Ray is survived by his wife, Heidi Palka of Andover; his daughters, Allison Rogers and her husband Justus Rogers of Glastonbury; Laural DeLuca of East Granby; and Rae Palka of Andover. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Dan DeLuca of Glastonbury, and his grandson, Gibson Rogers of Glastonbury.
