Ray “Butch” Qualls, 78, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. Born on December 9, 1947, in Hurricane, West Virginia, he spent the majority of his life in Columbus, where he built a life centered on family.
Butch was a caring father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his children: Marty (Rachel), Adam, Liz (Josh), and Amy.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terry, who passed in March 2025. They shared 31 years of marriage. Terry is survived by her children, Mindy, Scotty, and DJ. Butch was also preceded in death by his parents, his father, Elmer Ray Qualls, and his mother, Hazel Elvira White.
He took great pride in his role as a grandfather and leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Martina, Liam, and Maddie (children of Marty); Austin and Harley (children of Adam); Ava, Deacon, and Ethan (children of Liz); Olivia, Lauren, Christian, and Carlie (children of Amy); Donny, Josh, Brandon, Skyler, and Trey (children of Mindy); Cahli (daughter of Scotty); and Shane, Tanner, and Cooper (children of DJ); along with numerous great-grandchildren.He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends. Donations can be made in his name to the Columbus Humane Society.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family to honor him.
