Ray Segovia
R
ay Segovia passed away on June 28, 2005, he was 62 years old. Ray passed away due to a three-year battle with cancer.
Ray was born on August 12, 1963. He was born in Denver Colorado and resided in Brighton Colorado his entire life. Graduating from Brighton High School, making lifelong friends who he enjoyed visiting with, Ray was called the Reverand by all that knew him and was a lifelong nickname. Ray was a very loving and loyal friend. He enjoyed football and loved the Oakland Raiders. Ray was a loving son to his mother Lupe Segovia they were very close and enjoyed spending time together, especially watching Night Court. Lupe was by his side as he passed.
Ray also was a loving brother to his brothers and sisters, those that departed before him were Steve Campos, Corky Loredo and John Segovia. Those he left behind are Smiley Rodriguez, Rosalie Stone, Shirley Salmeron and Ernest Segovia.
Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, and they will be grieving for some time. Ray spent many years working at detailing cars, truly loving his work, he often would detail friends and family cars. He loved growing a garden every summer. He had a green thumb and loved growing many things especially cucumbers and tomatoes. Ray especially loved his dog, Charlie, for the two were best buddies. Charlie is heartbroken without his best friend around. Ray liked to relax and loved his favorite TV show Gilligan's Island. He occasionally would go fishing or camping with his friends. Ray enjoyed many things and would give you his last pennies as he did with his niece Samantha Segovia, they would save up to walk to the corner store to buy goodies for each other. But the one thing Ray really enjoyed and that was decorating for Christmas, he was always the first one in the family and on the block to have the tree up and decorated along with all the outside decorations up.
Ray Segovia is going to be missed very much by his family and friends. There will never be another like him. This world was blessed to have Ray in it and will be less bright without him.
