Ray Simmons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Kampp Funeral Home on Dec. 17, 2025.
Ray J Simmons Jr., 68, of West Chicago. Beloved Husband of Karen A. Simmons for 28 years; loving father of RJ Simmons III, Yesica E. Simmons (Nee Brown); proud cherished grandfather of Lainey E. Simmons; dear son of Ray J. Simmons Sr. And Mary June Peterhans; brother of Ric Simmons (Kelly), brother in law of Suzanne Rickman (Gary) and Sandy Fidanzia (Tom); uncle of Ricky Simmons (Amanda), Megan Simmons, Sarah Nunez (Manny), Bonnie Rickman, Michael Fidanzia, and Andrew Fidanzia.
Ray was a graduate of Wheaton Warrenville South Highschool. He played hockey his entire life, including at Iowa State University. After his collegiate career, Ray Co-founded the IceHoles Men's league hockey team. While staying in shape for hockey, Ray began a love affair with racing bicycles, which continued for his entire life.
After graduating from college, Ray began a career in operations at Northwestern Flavors (a division of Wrigley). After retiring from Wrigley, Ray began a second career in operations at Polyform Products in Elk Grove. After Ray retired a second time, he began working part time at 7 Mile Cycles in Elk Grove because of his love for Bicycles. Ray loved speaking with all of the other bike Enthusiast that came in to the shop.
Some of his happiest days were spent with his family, either at a bonfire in the backyard, or at his brothers lake house up in Wisconsin.

God's Speed dear cousin of mine; blessings and Angels' companionship on your journey to the Spirit World. You are safe now. Rest in the deepest of peace. And much peace to your lovely life partner, children, grandchildren, Brother Ric and his whole family - and to all your friends and extended family who will miss you. I wish we had had more opportunities to spend time together - I am sorry for not being more proactive in this regard. I love reading about the life you lived - full speed ahead and creatively adapting and growing. Take good care my cousin. I will see you again - on the Other Side.... For now, I will hold you, our childhood memories, your family and friends in my heart and prayers. Blessings and love - paul (peterhans)
