Ottawa, Ohio - Ray E. Trigg, Sr., 85, passed away on February 11, 2026, at 9:29 a.m. at The Meadows of Ottawa, surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was born on October 10, 1940, in Derby, Virginia, to James "Jim" and Madge (Mahan) Trigg, who both preceded him in death. On April 15, 1960, he married Phyllis (King) Trigg, who preceded him in death on April 18, 2020.
Ray worked as a manager at the American General Lima Branch for over twenty years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elida. Ray was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball programs. He also enjoyed Friday nights in the fall watching the Elida Bulldogs. Ray was a dedicated fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed fishing on occasion and golfing at various courses. Ray was a hardworking man and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his wife, Phyllis, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Guess of Lima, OH; son, Ray (Amy) Trigg, Jr. of Ottawa, OH; grandchildren, Douglas Guess, Jr., Joshua Guess, Elizabeth Trigg, and Abigail (Noah) Graham; great-grandson, Micah Graham; brother, Jim (Wanda) Trigg of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters, Wilma (Harold) Seymore of Clinton, TN, Sandra (Ted) Cole of Kingsport, TN, Brenda Oldham of Kingsport, TN, Linda Gay Smith of Jonesville, TN, Judy (Jim) Wise of Kingsport, TN, and Patsy (Boyd) Lewis of Weber City, VA; brothers, Larry Trigg of Derby, VA, and Gary Trigg of Stickleyville, VA; sister, Debbie (Ralph) Bandy of Kingsport, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Francis Joan; granddaughter, Bethany Guess; son-in-law, Douglas Guess, Sr.; brother-in-law, Bill Smith; brother, Richard "Darrell" Trigg; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Wolfe.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 105 E. Main Street, Elida, Ohio 45807. Rev. Paul Scannell will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 105 E. Main Street, Elida, Ohio 45807.

Trish (King) Mason & Hank Mason & Family live in California. Ray was my brother-in-law. He was my sister (Phyllis') husband. We all loved him, and we know he is with the Lord and his dear wife.
