Ray Waller, age 74, of Canton, GA, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025.
He was a man whose hands skillfully shaped the world as a proud member of Local Carpenter's Union 225. Known affectionately as "Grump," Ray had a passion for racing, embodying a spirit of adventure in motorcycles and cars that recalled his youthful exuberance. His love for gardening was rivaled only by his love for ice cream, and his deep interest in history and science was as vast as the knowledge he accumulated.
In retirement, Ray could be found selling his much-loved boiled peanuts. His stubborn yet loving and caring nature made him a cherished figure among his family and friends. His love for his family was apparent in everything he did, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, a testament to the man he was.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph J. Waller; mother, Trudy Erquitt; and wife, Brenda M. Waller.
Ray is survived by his children, Casandra L. Sewell, Jon M. Waller Sewell (Jodie) and Jeannie Hardin; grandchildren, Alena Grace Shull, Raquel Hardin and Gabriel Shull (Britney); sisters, Rita Bass (Waymon), Margie Woodall and Nancy Lane (Billy); three great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will have a memorial visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Sosebee Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
