Rayetta Falls Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel - Honey Grove on Dec. 21, 2025.
Rayetta Copening Falls, 82, passed peacefully from this life on December 2, 2025, in Paris, Texas. She was a beautiful and caring woman, known for her joyful and compassionate nature.
She was born March 15, 1943, in Arlington, Texas to Raymond Lee Copening and Viola Marie Sherwood. She was blessed with 2 brothers, and they all enjoyed getting together throughout their life. Rayetta was a majorette at Honey Grove High School, before moving to Oklahoma in her senior year. After high school, she met the love of her life Charles Howard Falls, at a church in Las Vegas, where her father was preaching. They later married in June of 1963 and started their family in Northern California. Rayetta thrived as a devoted and passionate wife, mother, and business owner. Charles passed away in 1991, and Rayetta never remarried.
A woman of many interests, Rayetta enjoyed gardening, painting, designing, playing Jeopardy and Scrabble, shopping, and accessorizing. Rayetta was a doting grandmother - she was affectionately called "Gammi". She also greatly enjoyed spending time with family and creating her glorious gardens each year. She is survived by her son Justin and wife DeeDee; brother Bobo Copening and wife Lou; grandsons, Zachary Charles Falls and wife Emily and grandson Tristan Ray Falls; niece Carla Copening; nephew Steve Copening and wife Sue and many cousins. Rayetta was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Howard Falls; her parents, Raymond Lee Copening and Viola Marie Sherwood and brother Raymond "Carlton" Copening and niece Jill Copening Maples.
A service celebrating Rayetta's life will be held at Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home in Honey Grove, Texas on Friday January 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

She was an incredible woman with beauty and brains. She loved playing Jeopardy and was very quick witted! I remember her when I was in my teens and early 20s showing us how to prune roses and what plants should go where.
She was a huge part of my life for many years until they moved to Texas. I loved her with all my heart she will never be forgotten.

As a company owner, she offered opportunities to many people from varied trades and ethnic backgrounds. She taught me to see beauty in the colors and textures around me. I will remember laughing with her.
