Rayford Carter Sr.

Rayford Carter was born on July 22, 1950, to the loving union of

Jessie Pearl Womack and Elmore Carter, Jr. Rayford peacefully

entered eternal rest at home on March 1, 2026, surrounded by the love

of his family and comforted by his faith.

He was a proud and honorable veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his

country with courage and dedication. He was preceded in death by his

beloved parents and his paternal grandparents, who lovingly raised

him, Dea. Elmore (Clatie) Carter, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Mr.

Charlie (Tess) Womack, Sr., mother-in -law, Gertrude Chestang;

brothers, Sgt. Timothy A. Carter, Richard N. Carter, and brother-in-

law, Kenneth Chestang.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of 54

years, Genevieve Carter; three cherished sons: Duane (Keely) Carter, Brian (Essina) Carter, and

Rayford Carter, Jr.; He is also survived by three loving sisters: Mrs. Belinda (Calvin) Williams, Ms.

Janet (Curtis) Maye, and Mrs. Clara (Joe) Causey; three dear sisters-in-law: Ms. Norma Shakoor, Mrs.

Gloria Carter, and Mrs. Jacqueline (Kenneth) Chestang; nine adored grandchildren: Erin Coleman,

Miajhse Scales, Jordan Carter, Bailei Bass, Taylor Carter, Kalani Bagsby, Jaeda Carter, Camaryn

Thrash, and Ralyn Carter; and three treasured great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by a host of

loving nieces and nephews, devoted family, and faithful friends whose lives he touched deeply.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 2 PM-4 PM at Small's Mortuary & Cremation

Services, 950 S. Broad Street, Mobile, Alabama.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1703 Dublin Street, Mobile, Alabama.

Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11 AM.

Interment will follow at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort,

AL 36527.
