Raymon Steward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robertson Funeral Directors - McLean on Mar. 3, 2026.
Raymon Arthur "Tater" Steward, 71, of McLean, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at 201 E. 7th Street in McLean. Family and friends are invited to bring their favorite beverage and a lawn chair as they come together to honor and celebrate Tater's life in a way that reflects his welcoming spirit and love of fellowship.

Cremation and arrangements are under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean.

Tater was born on April 23, 1954, in Shamrock, Texas, to Raymond Jasper and Ima Joyce Purcell Steward. On October 20, 1973, he married Wilma Jean Morris in Pampa, Texas. She preceded him in death in 2013, along with his parents.

Tater spent much of his life as a truck driver, a profession he truly loved. The open road suited him, and he took pride in his work. He had a deep love for riding his Harley motorcycles, gathering with family for cookouts, and spending time surrounded by those he cared about most. Known for his large personality and even larger heart, Tater made lasting impressions wherever he went and formed friendships that endured throughout his life.

He was a man who saw the world in black and white, preferring to keep life simple and straightforward. He never forgot anything and was known for his strong convictions, steady presence, and loyalty to those he loved. His dogs also held a special place in his heart.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his spouse, Toffia Weaver of McLean; his sons, Clint Steward of McLean and Mitch Steward and wife Melanie of Arkansas; his daughters, Sissy Day and husband Joey of Pampa, Christy Blaylock and husband Roy of McLean, and Nikki Perez and husband Mario of Pampa; his bonus daughters, Tiffany Douglas and husband Christian of McLean, Christia Ledet and husband Fred of Pampa, and Haley Downs and husband Justin of Georgia; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry forward his legacy of strength, love, and resilience.

Tater will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the stories shared, the miles traveled, and the many lives he touched.
