Raymond Augustine Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home - Milltown on Dec. 11, 2025.
Born on March 31, 1943 he grew up in Alden, Pennsylvania, later relocating to Milltown, New Jersey in 1971 where he built a beautiful life with his family. He attended Mansfield University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, and went on to enjoy a long and dedicated career at Bristol-Myers Squibb where he worked until his retirement in 1993. Following his time at BMS, he traveled the world as a Life Sciences Regulatory Consultant generously sharing his expertise and passion for science.

Ray had a deep appreciation for the outdoors in all seasons. He found joy in gardening, distilling whiskey, and making homemade wine and vinegar – always approaching his hobbies with a scientist's curiosity. His favorite pastimes were hiking and riding his ATV throughout the mountains of Pennsylvania on trails he knew like the back of his hand. Known for his inquisitive nature, Ray was always eager to learn and explore new topics and hobbies, and he loved sharing his knowledge with others.

Ray always gave generously of his time, volunteering as Head Coach for the St. Bartholomew Girls Basketball Program, serving on the Board of Directors for the United Way, contributing as the Art Director for Stagecrafters Community Theatre, and most recently a member of the Milltown Environmental Commission.

Proud of his Polish heritage, Ray cherished traditions and enjoyed polka music, potato pancakes, and homemade pierogies, and loved the old Polish Catholic churches in and around the Nanticoke Pennsylvania area. A lifelong basketball fan, Ray enjoyed watching and following UConn women's college basketball.

Above all, Ray was an adoring father who was devoted to his family. He is survived by his three children: Brian Augustine (Jamie), Joanne Visconti (Ralph), and Sharon Kloc (Andrew) and by his cherished grandchildren Mason, Isabelle, Joseph, and Stella, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sisters Andrea Khlopin and MaryAnn Tirpak. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth, his parents, Stella and Edward Augustine, and his sister Edna Cunningham.

Ray will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his boundless curiosity, and the warmth he extended to all he met. His legacy of love, learning and generosity will live on in his family, friends, and community forever. He will be deeply missed.
