Raymond Belle, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 15, 2024, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 29, 1945, in Plaisance, Guyana, to Olive and Alfred Belle, Raymond's life was characterized by devotion, warmth, and hard work.
Raymond married his beloved wife, Donnette Belle, on July 20, 1998, in Buxton, Guyana. In 2001, he moved to America, where he settled in Newark, DE, with his wife and son, Jermain Belle. Raymond enjoyed a successful career as a school bus driver with the Christina School District, serving faithfully for over 15 years. Prior to his move to the U.S., Raymond worked diligently as a night shift security guard at an orphanage in Plaisance, demonstrating his unwavering dedication and strong work ethic.
Outside of his professional life, Raymond was a family man who loved spending time with his loved ones. Known for his warm and welcoming personality, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel at ease. Raymond enjoyed watching television, gardening, cooking, and was particularly meticulous about keeping his car spotless, often seen cleaning and caring for it every other day.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donnette Belle; his parents, Olive and Alfred Belle; his brothers, Godfrey "Sando" Belle and Monty Belle; and his sister-in-law, Grace Wilson.
He is survived by his children: Michelle, Nigel, Neil, Simone, Judy, Eric, and Jermain (Belle); siblings: Dulcie Belle-Yearwood, Roy, Aubrey, Jennifer, Carol, and Desirree (Belle); his grandchildren: Carleen Belle-Sultan "Sherry", Melicea, Angela, Javaise "Pinky" (Khan), Danielle, Sherwin "Sonny", Darnell, Donnicea, and Eric "Buddy", Intiz, Roy, Ramona, Alicia (Belle), Nigel, Jr. "Omar", Imran, Peter (Simpson), Emanuel, Judah, David, Jonathan, Jeremiah, Esther, Daniel (Duncan) and others; his great-grandchildren: Angel Khan, Jermaine Dublin, Llegaci Moor, Nayeli, Noah, Nasir (Sultan), Lidea Simpson, Zarriah, Hosanah, Gabreilla "Serenity" (Duncan) and others cousins: Nicola, Annie, Cassius, Tracy, Deon, Theresa, Toya, and others Raymond is also survived by his mother-in-law, Brenda Wilson; sisters-in-law: Rhonda Wilson, Ama Cartwright (Anthony Cartwright), Andrea Miller (Yvette Miller); brother-in-law, George Wilson; and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Raymond's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 3 pm on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 3 pm. Interment will be held privately.
