Raymond Bence, Jr., 73, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was the husband of Brenda M. (Rodriques) Bence for 50 years.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Raymond Bence and Evelyn (Harrison) Gries, he was raised in New Bedford before living most of his life in Dartmouth.
Ray enjoyed playing pool, and working on electronics and cars. He loved having pets over the years and going for walks around Buttonwood park. Ray enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, target practice, riding his ATV and snowmobiling. He also liked weightlifting and practicing Karate and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu
Raymond worked for the Postal Service for over 25 years and also operated Efficiency Heating with his son Ray III.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; his children, John Bence and Raymond Bence, III both of Dartmouth; his sister Gail English-White; his grandchildren, Ciera Norman, Corey McMillan and Eric McMillan; his beloved mentor William Marsh; a niece Marcie English; a nephew Adam White; and several great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 10AM to 12 Noon in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. with a service in the Funeral Home at Noon. Burial will take place privately at a later date.
