Born in Buncombe County, NC, on June 10, 1949, Raymond was the son of the late Raymond and Agnes Cordell Brackett. A graduate of Owen High School with a lifelong love for tennis, he was a man of dedicated work ethic. Raymond committed 33 years of service to Beacon Manufacturing before eventually retiring after a 15-year career with the YMCA.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Taylor; and sister, Mary "Tootie" Humphries.
Left to cherish his memories are his sister, Susan Brackett of Black Mountain; nieces, Renee Woody and Donna Lynn Worsham; nephew, Raymond Walker; other special family members, Joshua Taylor and Emily Taylor; and numerous cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 2:00pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
The family extends their deepest thanks to the Center for Conscious Living and Dying in Swannanoa for the compassionate care Mike received from their dedicated staff.
