Raymond Joseph Brocato, age 84, of Tega Cay, SC, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Timothy S. Reid and concelebrated by Msgr. Rev. Robert J. Jaskot on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 1pm at St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC (3635 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209).The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Wolfe Funeral Home (314 Spratt Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715).Born in Baltimore, MD, Ray was the son of the late John Joseph Brocato and Margaret Ann Lehr Brocato. He was a 1957 graduate of Calvert Hall College and was the owner and operator of The Silver Fox Salon in Baltimore. He went on to operate ten salons in the Erickson Senior Living group. Ray was the life of the party, always had a twinkle in his eye and would give you the shirt off his back. A man of many words, he truly was one of the greats. He loved his Catholic Faith, was so proud of his children and his grandchildren and loved his "crazy woman" Mary Lorraine dearly. Rays sense of humor was second to none. Making people laugh brought him so much joy. He always had a way to make people feel at home instantly in his presence. He loved to cook and entertain. He was a card shark and took pride in mopping the floor with his opponents in Gin Rummy and Tricks. He was a political junkie and had an alter ego, "Bill From Hunt Valley", that would frequently call in to talk radio back in Baltimore to share his take on the news of the day. Above all, Ray valued family and tradition. He took great pride in his Sicilian heritage and took care to remind everyone of that. Surviving is his wife of 58 years Mary Lorraine Kent Brocato, daughter Maria Kunisch, son-in-law Jason Kunisch, son-in-law Bill Elliott, daughter-in-law Laura Brocato, and grandchildren John and Elizabeth Kunisch. He was preceded in death by his son Mario Raymond Brocato, daughter Christine Marie Brocato-Elliott, son Michael Joseph Brocato, and his six brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC, or The Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia in Nashville, TN. Condolences: www.wolfefuneralhome.com
