Raymond Buchanan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Modetz Funeral Home - Silverbell Chapel on Dec. 15, 2025.
Raymond Alan Buchanan; age 72 of Orion, passed away on December 14, 2025. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Marieanne Buchanan; his daughter, Christine Marie (Jayson) Pinkerman; and his son, Brian Alan (Danielle) Buchanan. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Zachary Alan Buchanan, Jacob Tyler Buchanan, Samuel Rhys Pinkerman, and Anastasia Jayde Pinkerman, each of whom brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda (Bob) Hetzel, Kathleen (Mike) Janes, and Richard Bruce Buchanan.
Raymond worked as a UAW Millwright and retired from the GM Lake Orion Plant. He was known for his skills as a handyman and his love of building all types of things - from decks to playing card holders. There was rarely a project he wouldn't take on, and seemingly nothing that he couldn't fix. His craftsmanship and willingness to help others will be long remembered.
Ray was an outdoorsman who enjoyed visiting lighthouses, boating, fishing, deer hunting, and canoe trips. He loved crosswords, puzzles, board games and playing cards.
Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family and especially enjoyed traveling together and making lasting memories. His friendships were long-lasting and meant the world to him.
Raymond's dedication to his family, his quiet strength, and his generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 – 11am with Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 2700 Waldon Rd., Orion. A scripture vigil will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 – 7pm at Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E. Silverbell Rd., Orion. The family will receive friends Monday 5pm until the 7pm service.
