Raymond Carmichael CONCORD Mr. Raymond Carmichael, 70, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013. Services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 13), at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin Honeycutt officiating. The family received friends Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Raymond was born in Mt. Sterling, Ky. Dec. 21, 1942. He was the son of Wilma Martin Carmichael, of Mt. Sterling and the late William Earl Carmichael. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in Europe just prior to Vietnam. He retired from IBM after 35 years of employment. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and anything NASCAR. He also loved to cook, and was a huge Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan. He liked to sing and play his guitar. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lee Carmichael; son, Brian Carmichael; daughters, Dena Ziglar and husband, Jaime, of Harrisburg, Haley Throne and husband, Rob, of Wilmington and Terri Seagraves and Kerri Seagraves, both of Charlotte; brother, Larry Carmichael, of Mt. Sterling; sisters, Francene Aufderhaar and husband, Larry, of Ohio and Sandra Shoemaker and husband, Danny, of Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren, Brittany Johnson, Jeremy Carmichael, Hannah and Lindley Ziglar, Tyler and Ava Throne, Ciarra Corder, and Joshua Pingleton; and two great-grandchildren. Special thanks to all the staff at Universal Health Care and Rehab and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their compassionate care.
