Raymond Cocozza Obituary

Raymond Cocozza

October 20, 1951 - January 28, 2026

Raymond Cocozza, - 74, of Absecon, NJ, a devoted father and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Atlas Healthcare at Seashore Gardens in Galloway. Raymond was born and raised in Atlantic City alongside his eight brothers and five sisters. He was the son of Peter and Nellie (Smallwood) Cocozza. Raymond attended St. Michael's Grammar School and Atlantic City High School. He remained a longtime resident of the Ducktown section of Atlantic City, where he created a loving home and raised his children. Raymond worked for several companies in Atlantic City including Shore Points Detective Agency, Atlantis Casino, Trump's World Fair Casino, Cocozza Brothers Roofing Company, and the Atlantic City Board of Education. He retired in 2022 from the Atlantic City Board of Education after 25 years of service in the maintenance department. In retirement, Raymond loved spending time with his grandchildren-whether cheering on his grandson at a hockey game or taking his granddaughters shopping. He also enjoyed sharing stories about his childhood in Atlantic City, going for car rides through the "old neighborhood," and listening to oldies music. He created memories that will be treasured forever. Raymond is survived by his four children: Stacy Herrerias (William), Jonathan Cocozza (Kristy), Kormaine Brown (Nykeda), and Byron Brown; and his five grandchildren: Rhianna, Kaiden, Arianna, Rohemond, and Kormaine Jr. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna; his son, Raymond; his parents, Peter Sr. and Nellie; his brothers, Peter Jr., Albert, Nicholas, Carl, Harvey, John, Joseph, and James; and his sisters, Dolores Anderson, Geraldine Suarez, Marie Sauerbrey, and Rosalie Yee. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Schromsky, and numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service beginning at 12 p.m., at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Rd., Galloway, NJ 08205. Burial will immediately follow at Atlantic City/Greenwood Cemetery, 628 West Washington Avenue, Pleasantville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Raymond's memory to one of his two favorite charities: Shriners Children's-https://donate.shrinerschildrens.org/give/619498/#!/donation/checkout,

or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications/in-lieu-of-flowers.html. For directions and condolences please visit Wimbergfuneralhome.com
