Raymond Armand Coutu, Sr., 87, of Danville, passed away at his home on April 11, 2025.
Raymond was born on July 29, 1937 in St. Johnsbury to Armand and Nellie (Royston) Coutu. He married Sara McDermott on April 27, 1957, sharing nearly 67 years together. Raymond was best known for his love of hunting, fishing, and farming. He was a hard worker as a builder, roofer, logger, and especially as a farmer. If you could not find him in the barn, you could find him in the hayfield. He had a great love for chickens, raising them from the time they hatched, often indoors. His greatest love, however, was family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow up. A private person in many ways, Raymond will be remembered for his hard work and having a good heart.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Sara Coutu; children Raymond Armand (Janice) Coutu, David Raymond Coutu, and Maryellen (Scott Stevens) Brodhead; siblings Armand Coutu, Jr., Mary Craw, Nellie Stafford, Amanda Manning, Emma Parker, Sarah Coutu, Ruth Curry, Daniel Coutu, and David Coutu; grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Crocker, Heather (Brent) Hodgdon, Raymond A. (Brandy) Coutu III, Matthew Coutu, Dakota Coutu, Crystal Laferriere, Christopher (Kara Crown) Knights, Michael (Mackenzie Moreau) Knights, and Dallas Brodhead, as well as several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his sisters Theresa M. Limieux and Imelda E. Coutu Bliss.
At Raymond’s request, there will be no services at this time.
